Clinics and Instruction

Welcome to the world of sailing on an Ideal 18! The Ideal 18, designed by Bruce Kirby and built by Shumway Marine, is a stable keel boat that is perfect for those learning to sail and race, but also sophisticated enough to keep high level racers engaged year after year.

The One Design program at Pequot Yacht Club will offer a series of clinics.  In addition, this page provides resources for learning about the Ideal 18.  Please visit the Pequot YC One Design Instruction website for details on boat handling, boat speed, strategy, and tactics for Ideal 18 Sailing.  There are also a series of videos at the bottom of this page that show the basics of rigging and sailing the Ideal 18.
