Sailing at Pequot Yacht Club
Pequot Yacht Club's mission is to inspire a lifelong appreciation and respect of the sea for sailors of all ages and abilities with commitments to respect, learning and stewardship.
Pequot Yacht Club supports a sizable fleet of member-owned sailboats active in both racing and cruising, in addition to two club-owned One-Design fleets: Ideal 18 keelboats for racing and learning and Dyer Dhows for frostbiting. Further, the Club boasts a thriving junior sailing program, and a growing fleet of radio-controlled Independence pond yachts.
The Club offers a wide variety of competitive and recreational sailing programs from Southport Harbor. Keelboat racing is a longstanding tradition at PYC, with regular weekly races throughout the Summer and Fall. The Club’s One Design fleets are active year-round, with the Ideal 18 fleet engaging in racing and learning throughout the Summer. The Dyer Dhow fleet is active all Winter long with weekend "Frostbite" racing. The Club’s popular women’s sailing programs provide additional opportunities to bring members out on the water for learning and recreation.
Finally, the Club sponsors a cruise each summer up the New England coastline, which draws extensive participation from member sailors, power boaters and the broader membership.
