2025 Pequot Junior Race Week Recap
A Celebration of Junior Sailing

Pequot Yacht Club proudly welcomed 180 junior sailors from across Long Island Sound for the 2025 edition of Pequot Junior Race Week, held July 10–12. Over three exciting days of racing, the Club's waterfront was filled with the energy, enthusiasm, and talent of the next generation of sailors. From the first horn to the final haul-out, the event captured the very best of junior sailing spirit, sportsmanship, and seamanship.

Thursday and Friday featured the Pequot Invitational, where 27 Club 420s, 20 RS Fevas, and 30 ILCAs (Lasers) each completed seven races in light but steady breeze. TeamPequot sailors delivered standout performances, earning first place overall in the 420 fleet and second in the ILCA 4 class.

Saturday’s Pequot Opti Rumble brought in 56 Optimist sailors, who competed in four races in a building easterly that reached more than 15 knots sustained. Our TeamPequot sailors met the challenge head-on, earning second place finishes in both the White and Red Fleets — a testament to their preparation, resilience, and focus.

Beyond results, the regatta highlighted what makes junior sailing at Pequot so special. From well-fought starts and tight mark roundings to camaraderie on the docks, the Corinthian spirit was evident throughout the event. Sailors conducted themselves with grace, grit, and sportsmanship — true ambassadors of our sport.

A sincere thank you to Regatta Chair Jerry Ruggieri, Principal Race Officer Evan Olmstead, the dedicated TeamPequot coaching staff, and our dedicated volunteers who ensured a smooth event, on and off the water. We’re especially grateful to Titus, Travis, and their hardworking teams for their critical support.

We also wish to extend special appreciation to our Commodores and Board of Governors, whose continued leadership and support make events like Junior Race Week possible. Their commitment to youth sailing and Pequot’s mission is reflected in every race and every sailor’s growth.

Congratulations to all the sailors, families, coaches, and supporters who made this years Race Week a tremendous success. We are already looking forward to 2026!
