Welcome to One Design 

One Design Sailing is a form of sailing in which all boats are built to the same specifications, so they are as identical as possible in hull shape, rigging, sails, and equipment. The goal is to ensure that races are decided by sailor skill rather than by boat design, technology, or budget.

At Pequot Yacht Club, One Design Sailing is a part of our DNA, reflecting the Club’s founding belief that great racing comes from skill, not equipment.
 

Highlights include:

• Significant repairs to the Ideal 18 fleet, restoring all boats as closely as possible to original condition and ready for racing, clinics and recreational sailing.

• Club-owned Melges 15 available for use recreationally or for regular racing to all registered One Design Program members (also available for charter by members for off-site regattas).

• Cross-fleet, stand-alone Holiday Regattas paired with family-friendly BBQ to celebrate Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day.

• Expanded schedule of Clinics, Demo Days and “learning oriented” programming.

One Design Sailing is one of the most exciting parts of sailing and our Club, and we can’t wait to see you be part of it. Hope to see you on the water in Summer of 2026!

• $500.00 Program Member - For full participation in all racing, instructional, regatta, event, recreational sailing across Ideal-18, Melges 15* and Pond Yacht Racing.

• $300.00 Corinthian Member - For full participation in all racing, instructional, regatta, event, recreational sailing across Ideal-18, Melges 15* and Pond Yacht Racing, specific to Corinthian members (under age 36).​​​​​​

• $150.00 Recreational member - For those who want to sail Ideal-18s only during the times where they are available and not being used for scheduled racing, instruction, regatta or events.

• $150.00 Cunningham Series - For those only participating in Ideal-18 Cunningham Series racing, and no other One Design programming or sailing.

• $50.00 Pond Yacht - For those only participating in Pond Yacht sailing no other One Design programming or sailing.
